Here's some highlights from Easter at our house this year. It was very memorable to say the least.
First, Holy Saturday happened to be my eldest daughter's seventh birthday, so we had a couple of celebrations wrapped up into one this weekend. here's a cute picture of my two daughters posing together in their Easter dressed (Lucy, age 3 1/2 and Jenna age 7):
Here's a photo of my wife's Easter dinner, which was some kind of concoction of lamb shank and shoulder cooked slowly in a sauce of tomato, green beans and mushrooms. The kids didn't go for it, but my parents loved it:
We went to the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday as we always do...it was very beautiful and our girls were absolutely tired out by the time we left. Jenna was exhausted on the way to the Vigil; here's a great pic of Jenna sleeping in the van:
This past Holy Week was very busy for us as a family and for me individually; I had catechumens and candidates to prepare, rehearsals to go to, papers to write for school, Confirmation interviews to schedule, a Youth Group Spring Retreat to plan and family to visit with. But, I still found time two weekends ago to escape to a local coffee shop for two hours and play some music, something I don't get to do much anymore:
What kind of crowd was there, you ask? Well, here's a pic of the coffee shop when I started playing around 7:30:
That's pretty much the way it stayed all night.
Just kidding. That's not a real pic of the coffee shop, but it does pretty accurately reflect the real number of people who were there. It's a shame: I had really practiced up, too!
Have a blessed Easter Octave!
