For me, it's less about the liturgy and more about teaching. There must be clear teaching on the basics, and we shouldn't be focused on pleasing people. John 6 says as much.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-17922222947279548632019-08-22T05:18:57.317-04:002019-08-22T05:18:57.317-04:00William--

To recover the Church must become poor, politically uninvolved and, most especially, return to Traditional Catholicism.Michael Dowdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16650782589323136700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-69726420858351678262019-08-21T21:36:43.889-04:002019-08-21T21:36:43.889-04:00I am bookmarking this, with the view of sending it...I am bookmarking this, with the view of sending it to the Bishop in Hawai'i - Honolulu - when it is safer for me to do so. No one here is trained I was told by the Monsignor. As I see it, it would require courage to do in Hawai'i what seems to be going on in 'many' places on the mainland. I think the will isn't there - even though everything traditional that has been ripped out of the tourist attractive historic cathedral that has not been deep sixed, could be found and reinstalled. A lot of people appear to have simply bought everything about the Novus Ordo; the masses are full at the Cathedral.

At present I am investigating the Carmel here - which almost certainly lacks everything, or most things, on the list you made. I'm not leaving the state until I have met the sisters, with whom I have established a relationship as I wait for landslides to be shored up - underway since before January on the only bus access route to the remote location. That convent was almost closed, but was reopened with sisters from the Philippines, within the last few years.

In September, I will find out exactly what it is that goes on there, in the Novus Ordo Carmel - they already know how traditional I am. The bishop lives on the same 22 acre remote plot. IN any case: great list. That altar rail: raised Episcopalian, we had one. No females on the altar, etc.
Nandaranihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05797138906682964812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-39862084442991121742019-08-21T13:07:11.735-04:002019-08-21T13:07:11.735-04:00I agree with Cassandra: "Can't say I'...I agree with Cassandra: "Can't say I've very optimistic about things changing until we have a dramatic Divine intervention, and those are usually pretty traumatic."

"After the deluge" a whole new crop of Bishops will be needed to restore the faith.Michael Dowdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16650782589323136700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-79277366756289814362019-08-21T11:00:15.648-04:002019-08-21T11:00:15.648-04:00Yes, those are all very nice suggestions.

I would be happy to extend the benefit of the doubt to them if the last 50 years hadn't proven definitively that there is a completely substantiated link between the departure from traditional norms in liturgy and devotions and a lack of belief in the real presence.Williamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09899467680272996143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-90205856864751710712019-08-20T22:32:00.752-04:002019-08-20T22:32:00.752-04:00Nice thoughts Boniface. Our bishops more resemble corporate regional managers, by far, than shepherds. If their formation produced them, it was a willingness to tow the company line. And yes, the hand-wringing..... probably has more to do with personal restlessness than true concern for the spiritual health of the laity.Williamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09899467680272996143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-59941941350659256592019-08-18T02:51:56.894-04:002019-08-18T02:51:56.894-04:00The impression I get from all that has happened in...The impression I get from all that has happened in the Church since Vatican II is that the main job of the Bishops is to make the Catholic Church Protestant. That was the apparent underlying intent of Vatican II. The fact that only one third of Catholics believe in the Real Presence is a sign of success.Michael Dowdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16650782589323136700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-53523133239211086112019-08-17T20:02:10.224-04:002019-08-17T20:02:10.224-04:00Whenever the prudent time comes (could be now, who...Whenever the prudent time comes (could be now, who knows): Phase out the Holy Communion in the Hand indult and Extraordinary Ministers.Alexander Verbumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01656300899868422182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086833995941525990.post-22683569276325667052019-08-17T14:02:36.507-04:002019-08-17T14:02:36.507-04:00Except the GIRM still instructs that churches be b...Except the GIRM still instructs that churches be built with the presider’s chair at “the head of the sanctuary”, facing the people.
It forbids using a traditional high altar design with the tabernacle attached.

Unbelievable, but there it is.
